 All About Prenatal Testing Choices
Congratulations on your pregnancy!  Any woman over the age of 35 is considered to be 'AMA' which stands for 'advanced maternal age'.  Now, if you are like ME you probably don't feel or look like you are at an advanced age and although the AMA label doesn't come with any 'seniors' discounts you WILL be presented with a dizzying array of prenatal testing options.

This page will help you sort through the options, provide you with information about each and hopefully make your decisions easier.  The big distinction between tests is if they are diagnostic or screening tests.  A screening test uses several factors to calculate if you may be at risk for a specific problem.  It will NOT tell you if you actually HAVE the problem.  It just means you may consider having a diagnostic test which will identify for sure if the problem exists.
